155 Danforth: Affordable Housing with a Purpose in Portland’s Historic West End

Located in Portland’s charming West End Historic District, 155 Danforth is a thoughtfully designed building providing 30 affordable apartment units. This project complements Phase I of the 66 State Street redevelopment, which created 38 single-room occupancy units for women experiencing homelessness, operated in partnership with the non-profit group Amistad.

A Community-Focused Development

155 Danforth not only adds much-needed affordable housing to the neighborhood but also serves as a transitional housing opportunity for Amistad clients who have successfully completed programs for treatment and recovery. Together, Phases I and II exemplify a transformation of an initial market-rate condominium concept into 68 affordable housing opportunities, prioritizing the safety and stability of women during critical stages of their lives.
